STEPPING ROUNDS – RipplePavers can be categorised by their raw materials, namely: CLAY. As the name implies, is similar to a brick in that the raw material is natural clay that is shaped and then fired or baked in large ovens to give its qualities such as durability and colour fastness. The colour of the paver that you select in CLAY will be the same in 30-40-100 years time with fading being restricted to 1 shade over its lifetime. Generally Clay pavers come in a modular sizing of 230x115, (which is the same size as a house brick) although some manufacturers have varied this by a few millimetres to differentiate. With the trend to larger footprint pavers, some companies have introduced 230x230mm sizing, which is twice the size of a house brick. In Clay there are two surface finishes, being WIRE CUT and SMOOT FACED. Generally smooth face pavers attract a premium in pricing as up until recently, most were made in Queensland and then transported to us. In the last couple of years, most of the manufacturers have attempted to make these locally with varying degrees of success. |
